Client Spotlight: Meet Mark

When was the last time you were inspired?

I hope it was just this morning but I can say that these days, it’s harder to find than my heart says that it should be. You can’t find it on tv much, definitely not on the news or social media, but what about in an email? I mean the written word can be just as inspiring as it is discouraging so let’s focus on filling our minds with some really positive stuff right!?

Well, Mark’s story will certainly do just that, inspire and maybe, hopefully, most certainly encourage you.

Six weeks ago Mark and I started working together and he came to me with a mountain of health problems including:

• No energy and tremendous fatigue
• Poor sleep quality, awakening 4-6 times every night
• Sugar cravings throughout the day and was not satiated after or
between meals
• Irritability and depression
• Difficulty keeping weight off
• High cholesterol
• High blood pressure
• A long history of kidney stones
• Type 2 diabetes
• An ache or pain in just about every single muscle and joint of his body
• And he was on a mountain of medications

His goals were first and foremost to have more energy, less pain and to sleep better.

He was on a budget so we stretched his dollars and got creative with a few different services.

First, Mark opted for my Real Food Meal Plan Membership. This allowed him to follow a whole food, gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free meal plan each and every day of the month with no trouble trying to figure out the in’s and out’s about how to “live gluten-free” from day one.

Second, he chose to invest in weekly email coaching support with me which gave us the opportunity to connect in detail each week on all of the elements of health, adjust his program, and answer any questions related to his new diet and routine. This also gave Mark a huge sense of accountability to get things done and stay on top of them.

Thirdly, he invested his hard-earned dollars in the right and higher quality supplementation per my recommendations and his specific needs to get his metabolism, liver, brain, gut, and cells functioning at a much higher level.

The above actions started a natural and much-needed detox and foundational reset for Mark’s broken, sick body.

Here’s what the man himself had to say about his last 5 weeks of mind/body transformation:

I feel like a new and much healthier person. My energy level has doubled in the past 5 weeks. My recent lab report showed really good diabetic controls in my A1C, a reduction in my blood pressure and a huge reduction of 40 points (201 to 162) in my LDL cholesterol! I took statins for years to lower my cholesterol without much success and developed an allergy to all of the ones available by my regular doctor. My doctor told me that I would not be able to lower my cholesterol without statins & that my diet would be the only way to change my cholesterol levels. Monica taught me that my cholesterol had a lot to do with my thyroid function which also has a lot to do with my energy levels, sleep, gut health and hormone balance.

With all these changes to my routine in these last 5 weeks, my body has released 5 kidney stones! No pain (thankfully), but this has proved to me that my body is needing to and trying to detox in a big way.

My doctor is absolutely shocked with my numbers and labwork as of retesting everything this week. In the past 5 weeks, I have had NO gluten and it’s been great & actually very easy to do. I just pretend that it is food that tastes bad & that makes me not care for it so I don’t eat it. It is a mindset shift, not a physical challenge which I’ve learned is huge element of health that I wasn’t addressing until recently.

With that mindset shift, I am developing a much more positive attitude to improving my overall health. I am seeing fast results to my efforts, feeling much better, am less bloated and swollen since eliminating gluten from my diet, starting to slowly detox my body and including better supplements to support myself. And all this has only taken 5 weeks! I am already feeling more cleansed each day and my digestive function is a lot more regulated too.

Everything is getting better as the weeks tick by. I only get up about once or twice at night and am getting a lot more consistent sleep. My pain levels have definitely reduced to almost none in the daytime with some soreness and tightness at night and when I first get up. I have a really physical full-time job that takes its toll on me by the end of the day so not having as many aches and pains at any point in my day is really great! The biggest change is my energy level which is great all day until about 8 PM. Sometimes I am moving like a 30-year old! HA!

I forgot to mention that I will be 68 years old next week. My changes in all of the above will surely assist me greatly in doing lots of activity when I am 78. I will be riding the Whole Health Elements train to safely get me there. Thanks for your guidance Monica and for helping me feel so much better in such a short period of time!

So, to circle back to Mark’s pre-coaching problems listed below, the ones listed in RED are the ones that have changed significantly or been eliminated in the past 5 weeks:

No energy and tremendous fatigue

Sugar cravings throughout the day and was not satiated after or between meals

• Difficulty keeping weight off (this will happen as Mark continues to get healthier, heal his gut further, reduce inflammation and balance his hormones)

• Type 2 diabetes, unregulated blood sugar

An ache or pain in just about every single muscle and joint of his body

• And he was on a mountain of medications (this is up to him and his medical provider to adjust)
His top 3 goals were more energy, less pain and better sleep which have all been achieved. Time to create some new goals Mark! 😊
