Heart Rate Variability Coaching

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is a powerful optimization tool that literally is the change in time, or variation, between successive heart beats over time.  

Who cares right?

You should!

HRV is a quantitative measurement of your HEALTH.  

Correctly taking regular, daily HRV measurements gives you insight into your Autonomic Nervous System which is also known as your body’s control center.  

HRV is used by all sorts of athletes, health enthusiasts, professionals, coaches and more that are interested in:

  • Improving exercise and sports performance including personal training and athletic performance 
  • Tailoring your exercise plan to obtain optimal results at specifically the right time and how exactly it needs to be changed for your maximum benefit (ie;  increased intensity/stimulus, recovery or warding against over training)
  • Controlling mental and physical levels of fatigue – including adrenal fatigue!
  • Mitigating chronic stress 
  • Improving your ability to identify and manage your stress and improve your overall health 
  • Tracking whole health improvements 
  • Gaining greater understanding on your overall health status and how to manage it more effectively
  • Working to identify key blocking factors standing in the way of your ability to reach an optimum level of health

How does HRV work?

I use the EliteHRV app for all of my clients.  I have used others but I find this to be the easiest, most accurate and effective.

To start with, you will need to download the app to your smartphone and invest in one of the compatible HRV measurement devices.  In most cases this is a specific type of HR monitor or chest strap that measures R-R intervals.   The most basic but highly accurate measuring device is the Polar H10 heart rate monitor strap which costs approximately $100 and you can purchase here.  If you do not own a HR monitor there is no need to purchase one for this service but I do highly recommend that you have use it as it is very important to use to gauge your intensity level during exercise.

After your initial purchases, you will need to create a baseline of HRV measurements for yourself.  Once you have established that baseline (with approximately 2 weeks of daily readings), then we can schedule a consultation to help you increase your HRV and overall health. 

In an HRV consultation, we will identify elements to your health that are in need of attention or adjusting in order to help you optimize your HRV.   We will create an action plan to help you move forward taking into account many of the following elements:

  • Physical health 
  • Diet & Nutrition 
  • Rest & Sleep 
  • Exercise and Movement 
  • Stressors and Lifestyle Factors 
  • Supplements 
  • Emotional Stress 

 

HRV Coaching Services

I offer weekly Heart Rate Variability Coaching as part of the following service packages as this allows me to adjust and coach my clients in real-time based on their daily HRV measurements.  This maximizes the time they are putting into their health goals and keeps them accountable to managing their health more specifically on a day-to-day and week-to-week basis.

HRV Jumpstart Consultation – 1 hour consultation at $150/hour

Includes:

  • 1-60 minute consultation delivered online via Skype/Zoom, phone or in my Centreville, VA office.
  • My review of your detailed health history, current condition and relevant lifestyle factors prior to our consultation
  • Identification of the most important variables to focus on to reach your goals

Prerequisites:

  • You must fill out the detailed client intake form before the consultation (it will be emailed to you after you submit your payment for service)
  • You must take at least 10 HRV Morning Readiness readings prior to the consultation within a 2 week time frame (if you’re already taking HRV readings regularly, that will work just fine!)
  • You must provide me with a 3-day consecutive food log prior to the consultation 

 

 

HRV Results Coaching – 3 month duration at $150/month

Includes:

  • 2-60 minute consultations delivered online via Skype/Zoom, phone or in my Centreville, VA office.
  • My review of your detailed health history, current condition and relevant lifestyle factors prior to our consultation and ongoing throughout your 3 month coaching period
  • Identification of the most important variables to focus on to reach your goals
  • Individualized 3-month plan of action
  • Weekly email support

Prerequisites:

  • You must fill out the detailed client intake form before the consultation (it will be emailed to you after you submit your payment for service)
  • You must take at least 10 HRV Morning Readiness readings prior to the  first consultation within a 2 week time frame (if you’re already taking HRV readings regularly, that works!)
  • You will be expected to track HRV at least 3 times per week during the 3-month coaching period but I recommend you do it DAILY 
  • You must provide me with a 3-day consecutive food log prior to the consultation 
  • You may be asked to track other variables depending on your goals and current condition
